Eugenio López Alonso is the sole heir to the Grupo Jumex fruit juice fortune, one of Mexico’s most successful national enterprises. He is also the president of Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo and a significant contemporary art collector.

Since the late 1990s, López has been involved in the realm of contemporary art collecting in Mexico, with a focus on promoting contemporary art practice and fostering its development.

In 1994, he co-founded Chac Mool Gallery in Los Angeles with art adviser Esthella Provas. In 2001, he established Fundación Jumex, a not-for-profit institution that aims to create a permanent art collection for the public.

López’s influence in the international cultural landscape was further solidified with the creation of Museo Jumex in 2013. López’s work has been recognized through his continuous support of various museums in Mexico, including their programming of educational activities and publications related to the visual arts.
Fundación Jumex also awards grants and scholarships to curators and artists for postgraduate studies abroad. He is currently a member of the board of trustees of institutions such as Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, Museo de Arte Moderno, and Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) in Mexico.
In the United States, López serves on the board of trustees of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA). His interest in contemporary Latin American art led to the establishment of the JUMEX FUND at MOCA.
López has also supported exhibitions and publications at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Moore Space in Miami, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
